One of the fanciest options offered by the IDA 4.8 debugger is the debugging of Windows64 executables from a 32 bit Linux machine. The 64 bits remote debugging server is started on the Windows64 machine.

and the 64 bit aware version of IDA for Linux is started with the following command line

idal64 -rwin@amd64+

the command line switch specifies the the debugger type (windows in this case), the machine name (amd64) and the last + specifies that a list of running processes will be requested from the target machine. IDA will then display that list and you'll be able to connect to processes on the Windows64 machine.

and here is the 64 bit program, ready to be debugged under Linux.
